Called the Secretary of State office. Spoke with a very nice lady who informed me that the plates were mailed out on Friday the 9th, so they should be here “any day now…”

Received new title
The new title arrived in the mail today. It’s now officially my truck. Hopefully the new plates will arrive soon…
Ordered vanity plates
Ordered new vanity plates online. (A special vehicle like this deserves plates that are a little “special,” too!) Should arrive in 30 to 45 business days
Gave Dad his “last ride”
Per his wish for “one last ride in my truck,” we used the truck to transport him (in his casket) from the church to the cemetery.
Stan Daughenbaugh from Daughenbaugh Funeral Home (part of Walker Mortuary) drove the truck, and Aaron from Walker Mortuary walked with me behind the truck. (I was a little concerned that the casket would roll out of the truck since there was an incline to travel, and the casket was longer than the bed of the truck thereby requiring the tailgate to be left open. Fortunately, there were no issues; it all went smoothly.)
Prior to departing from the church, Pastor Scott informed the attendees why we were doing this. If he hadn’t, I’m sure the appearance of the truck and the sound of the loud exhaust would have been a little shocking to them…
Had it serviced
One of my Dad’s final wishes was “one last ride in my truck.” So I took the truck in to Ray’s Alignments to be serviced in preparation for hauling him from the church to the cemetery. The guys there did great work and were very kind and compassionate.
It’s my truck now
Received service manuals on CD
Received service manuals on CD. Not that I’m much of a mechanic or anything, but it never hurts to have some documentation. Especially on an older vehicle such as this.
Looking forward to getting the truck out when we’re back up north over the summer. Hopefully won’t need to use these service manuals!
Welcome!

Registered the domain name
Registered the domain name mylilredtruck.com. I’m hoping that if my Dad’s health stays good enough, we might be able to participate in a few cruise nights and such and document it here.
He has been really down since my Mom passed away in November of 2011, so maybe doing some cruise nights will help cheer him up a little.
Mom and Dad were “snowbirds” for years, and Dad still is, so this will be only over the summer months when we’re back “up north.” Dad had wanted to take the truck down to Florida so he could enjoy it more, but Mom refused to ride 1200+ miles in it. (Can’t really say that I blame her. It would be an uncomfortable trip over that distance.)
